The Preble Amateur Radio Association is a long standing organization and has a long history of community service with Preble County. PARA,as we are known, is a small club by size but with more community involvement and exposure we are steadily increasing in number. The club is also involved in the NOAA's Skywarn, which tracks severe or potentially severe weather throughout the county and surrounding areas. Along with PARA, many of our members are involved in the local RACES, Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services, chapter. Most of the time you can't tell the two groups apart.
PARA holds weekly radio nets on Monday evenings at 8 pm est. We ask if you are a licensed operator to join us if you are in the area. These nets can be heard and joined on our repeater, K8YR located at 145.470 Mhz (2 meters) pl 100Hz.
Preble Amateur Radio Association holds two monthly meetings. On the first Sunday of the month we hold our business meeting where we discuss projects upcoming events and other such related topics. On the third Sunday of the month we hold our monthly activities meeting where we build and design antennas, set up towers, and plan our projects to come.
