The Preble Amateur Radio Association is the sponsor of the K8YR repeater located in Preble County, Ohio. At the repeater site stands a 400 foot tall tower. We currently have one VHF repeater located at 145.470 with a PL of 100 hertz. The tone decode is disable when the double beep (such as skywarn operations) is active. Use touch tone 547 to disable the tone decoder for about 3 minutes. The repeater currently is open to all that wish to join in on some good conversation. An AutoPatch has also been installed but is currently only for club use in the local calling area of the repeater. Battery backups have been in place for quite some time now allowing the repeater to remain completely operational during a power outage. As of March 2007, N8VKX Kevin has installed the duplexer's. The transmitt and receive path now is working off the 300' level antenna from the 100' level. The 400' level antenna and transmission line is still defective. This remains so untill the possible sale of the tower is finalized. Hopefully we will be able to retain the current antennas at the 400', 300' and 100' levels. Once the sale is finalized and new lease between the new parties and PARA is made, we plan to install a new length of 1.25" coax to the 400' level. Reports from repeater users have reported increase in transmission range down to the ohio river to the south and to Ft. Wayne to the north. Kevin has done a super job at maintaing the repeater!
